Angie Jackson

Angie Jackson Bio
Rhythm Guitar ~ Banjo

Angie was destined for a musical life.  She was told she was probably conceived to a Roy Orbison LP, and her early years were spent listening to her dad, grandfather and uncles serenade her with traditional, folk and bluegrass favorites.  She received her first guitar at the age of two, and later that same year, she learned to sing the Beatles’ “Hey  Jude.”

Her next several years were spent developing her incredible rhythm on tambourine to Diana Ross and the Supremes.  When she realized her dream to become a fourth Supreme wasn’t going to become reality, she focused her attention on Glen Campbell’s Goodtime Hour, where her fascination with Ovation guitars began.  She now plays 6- and 12-string Ovation guitars exclusively.  She also plays an Epiphone banjo and various harmonicas, and is from Kalamazoo, Michigan, birthplace of the Gibson guitar.  Angie’s middle school music teacher was Bertha McNeil of Motown’s female group The Velvelettes, whose stories of working with the incredible Motown super groups have continued to fascinate her.  Angie has worked extensively in the retail music industry, has worked with theatre and concert stage performances, and has donated hundreds of hours to the Old Town School of Folk Music’s Volunteer Program in Chicago.

Her musical influences include:  Fleetwood Mac, Patty Griffin, Sarah MacLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco, Emmylou Harris, The Mamas and The Papas, Steve Earle, Bruce Cockburn, 10,000 Maniacs, Talking Heads, Alison Krause and Union Station.  She still has an incredible passion for traditional, folk, bluegrass and Motown music.
